INVITATION

We are pleased to invite you to attend the 14th Annual Meeting of the Organization for Human Brain Mapping in Melbourne, Australia.

Melbourne prides itself on being a great city. It’s hardly surprising, with its spectacular combination of old and new architecture, elegant streetscapes, ethnic communities and lavish parks and gardens. Add Australia’s best eating, an excellent transit system and a packed events calendar boasting sporting spectaculars and exuberant events, and you have all the ingredients for one of the most enlightened and liveable cities in the world.

HBM was first held in 1995 and normally attracts between 1500–2000 attendees. Membership of the Organization for Human Brain Mapping (OHBM), www.humanbrainmapping.org, is growing and the 2003 meeting in New York attracted 2,500 and the 2006 meeting in Florence attracted 2,700 attendees. The meeting is the most significant neuroimaging conference for those in the field and with its tradition of alternating meetings between North America and Europe, the selection of Melbourne, Australia for the first OHBM Conference to be held in Australasia is indeed exciting and a great opportunity for our region.

The Melbourne Organizing Committee comprises The Howard Florey Institute of Experimental Physiology and Medicine, Brain Sciences Institute, Swinburne University and Mental Health Research Institute as joint hosts.

We look forward to seeing you in Melbourne, Australia in 2008.
